Overview

Care Access Research, Walnut Creek is an independent research center specializing in Phase II – IV clinical trials. Conveniently located in Walnut Creek, CA we are able to reach surrounding communities of the East Bay with a population of approximately 2.5 million people. Specializing in adult, adolescent, and pediatric dermatology, our center allows us to continue in our mission to make clinical trials an accessible care option for all patients.

Experience

Our dedicated research staff has over 20 combined years in research experience with trial experience in several dermatologic areas to include Acne and Atopic Dermatitis. Additional areas of interest include but are not limited to Psoriasis, Rosacea, and Melanoma.

Facility

We offer convenient outpatient facilities with on-site blood draw and IV infusion capabilities. Our waiting area is comfortable providing a TV, study appropriate reading materials, snacks, and beverages for our patients and visitors.

Our dedicated research space includes exam rooms and a locked, temperature monitored ambient, refrigerated, and frozen IP storage area. The facility maintains a locked study document storage area as well as a comfortable monitoring area with access to telephone, copier, fax, and high speed internet connection.

Dedicated research equipment includes a centrifuge, -20°F locked freezer, locked refrigerator, locked drug storage cabinet, ECG machine, back-up power with power outage alarm, blood pressure and vitals unit, and crash cart.

In addition to our research team, our site maintains relationships with research experienced dermatologists, ophthalmologists, radiologists, pulmonologists, and PET and MRI facilities.

Investigator

M. Christine Lee, MD, MPH Principal Investigator: Dr. Lee is board-certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology with a sub-specialty with a distinguished fellowship in Laser Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery, Mohs Micrographic Surgery/Skin Cancer/Facial Plastic Reconstruction, and Advanced Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Lee is academically involved as faculty for the Department of Dermatologic Surgery at the University of California, teaching residents and medical student, conducting research, and writing papers. Dr. Lee is cited as a “Laser Expert”, giving lectures and the author of the book The Ultimate Guide for the Best Skin Ever: LASERS, the first in a series to educate consumers on skin care and procedures.

Margaret Mayer, NP, Sub-Investigator: With over 8 years of clinical experience, Margaret is a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner that helps Dr. Lee with all aspects of her research and patient care.

Vanessa Parvez, MSPAS, PA-C, Sub-Investigator: With a Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, Vanessa is an integral part of Dr. Lee’s clinical and research team.

In addition to our experienced research coordinators we have an IV infusion specialist, multiple medical assistants, and support staff available.

Staff

Sofhia Samimi, Clinical Research Coordinator: With 3 years of experience in clinical research in multiple treatment areas, Sofhiais a capable and caring coordinator. She is a certified phlebotomist and certified Deep Brain Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Technician with experience in over 15 clinical trials in multiple treatment areas.

Regina Linetskaya, Medical Assistant, Clinical Research Coordinator: Regina is an experienced Medical Assistant and research coordinator with over 5 years of experience in clinical research and participation in over 10 clinical trials. She is capable of performing on-site lab processing, ECG’s, and is GCP certified.

Sue Griffiths, CCRC, Medical Assistant, Clinical Research Coordinator: Sue is an experienced Medical Assistant and research coordinator with over 20 years of experience in clinical research and participation in over 50 clinical trials. Active in the local ACRP chapter as President, she is highly involved in the research community. She has been recognized by sponsors as a top enroller and has partnered with sponsors to assist with protocol development.

Shari Lim, BS (Psychology), Clinical Research Coordinator: Shari is a highly-experienced research coordinator with over five years of experience in clinical research. Her experience is vast, participating in over 50 clinical trials, and she is certified to perform a high number of cognition scales and assessments. Shari is a certified phlebotomist who is capable of performing on-site lab processing, ECG’s, and cognitive rating scale administration.

Other

Our PI is highly respected and well-known physicians in the community. Our site has relationships with local businesses, nursing homes, hospitals, and primary care physicians, helping us to maintain a large recruitment potential.

We have dedicated support staff for budget and contract negotiations, regulatory submissions to central IRB’s, patient recruitment, equipment management, and IT support. We benefit from the additional capabilities provided by the Care Access Research national network of sites.
